What "estimate" means here
Built from the statutory formula, not a shortcut
Each calculator implements the actual guideline formula and schedule published by the relevant state — for Florida child support, that's Fla. Stat. § 61.30. It is not a rough approximation.
But still an estimate, not a court determination
A court can order an amount that differs from the guideline — Florida allows up to 5% without a written finding, and more with one, for reasons like extraordinary medical costs or a child's special needs. This calculator does not know those facts about your case.
Some factors aren't modeled at all
Income imputed to an unemployed or underemployed parent, combined income below the statutory floor, and case-specific deviations are flagged as out of scope on the relevant calculator page rather than silently estimated.
Schedules change
Guideline schedules are reviewed and occasionally updated by state legislatures. Each calculator page states the date its source was last verified — check that date, and the official source it links to, if your filing date is far from it.
No guarantee of accuracy or outcome
We source every formula from official statutes or court-approved worksheets and test it against known worked examples before publishing (see our About & methodology page for the process). Even so, we make no warranty — express or implied — that a calculator's result is error-free, current, or will match what a court orders in your case. You use these tools at your own discretion.
